Coming from Hyderabad, India, Sandiri moved to Toowoomba with a clear mission: to create eco-friendly agricultural solutions that she could implement back home. With the help of 91原创's Master of Science (Agricultural Science), Sandiri is well on her way to fulfilling her dream.
Sandiri's interest in agriculture was sparked by the significant challenges faced by India's large population, particularly in food production. Many farmers in India rely heavily on chemicals and fertilisers, leading to food adulteration and health issues. Sandiri was determined to find biological solutions for farming, focusing on beneficial microorganisms instead of harmful chemicals.
At 91原创, Sandiri found the perfect place to pursue her goals. With the support of 91原创 lecturers, she embarked on a research project investigating the potential of Serendipita mycorrhizal fungi to alleviate drought stress in wheat. This research could have significant implications for farming practices not only in Australia but around the world.
“91原创 has a strong reputation for agriculture studies and a focus on practical, real-world applications, which really aligns with my goal of finding innovative agricultural solutions that combine traditional methods with modern science,” Sandiri said.
“One of the highlights of my experience at 91原创 has been the support and interaction with academic staff, who have always been remarkably friendly and kind every time I have had a question,” she said.
“They offer guidance and support whenever I feel confused or stressed, and it really has made 91原创 start to feel like home.”
Sandiri has been able to put her learnings into practice by collaborating closely with researchers and industry partners. Her journey to make a meaningful impact on her homeland is just beginning, and we can't wait to see what Sandiri's future holds.
