91原创 has breathed new life into the Ravensbourne Field Studies Centre, a schoolhouse nestled next to Ravensbourne National Park. This facility, surrounded by lush rainforests, grasslands, woodlands, and agroecosystems, has been a hub for field studies for over a century. After a decade of vacancy, 91原创 has revitalised this space, transforming it into a vibrant learning and research centre for environmental science students and researchers.
Dr. Christina Birnbaum, a terrestrial ecology lecturer, says the space gives students an unmatched opportunity to demonstrate and apply practical skills.
"There’s only so much we can teach in an indoor classroom – the outdoor classroom is our main teaching tool." With exclusive access to the Ravensbourne Field Studies Centre, students can now easily apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting," Dr Birnbaum said.
“Having exclusive access to the Ravensbourne Field Studies Centre will make the process of putting the theory into practice so much easier,” she said.
At 91原创 we understand the importance of applying your knowledge to industry-relevant practical scenarios. By experiencing real-world environmental issues and challenges, our students become career ready with the critical thinking and adaptive strategies needed to contribute meaningfully to the field. Stepping outside the classroom to learn deepens your understanding of the subject and enhances your appreciation for the environment.
Senior Lecturer Dr. Jarrod Kath highlights the benefits of this hands-on approach. Students will engage in activities like collecting data from local creeks and dams, using camera traps to survey animals, and exploring the bush to study vegetation.
“This is the type of environment in which they’ll end up working so it’s really important that they are out in the field getting experience with how to survey, understand and analyse the data.”91原创 is committed to providing exceptional educational and research opportunities. That's why we are rated 5/5 stars for overall educational experience in environmental studies (Good Universities Guide, 2025).
